When I was choosing my degree course, I felt that my interests lay more in communication and working with people. However, I ended up ignoring those interests and graduating with a law degree. All around me, I was assured that this would be a safe option with a guarantee of more career opportunities. That’s why I didn’t follow my intuition. So, in the early years of my career, I worked with law firms, providing legal support to various organizations.
I believe that we can learn from every experience we have. Today, I recognize that through law I have developed the ability to solve challenges, creativity in finding solutions, persistence and attention to detail. All very useful skills for life!
But the truth is that I felt unmotivated in the legal sector. So I made choices that would allow me to work in areas related to people, gradually moving away from the legal area and towards organizations in the social area (third sector). After changing organizations and workplaces several times, I ended up working as Human Resources Manager for a multinational company. All these choices were giving me a new lease of life. But something was still missing.
I confess that it was difficult for me to admit that I wasn’t fulfilled and that I still didn’t feel sure about the right direction to take. There was a voice in me warning me of the need for greater change. But I didn’t have the courage or the strength to listen to it.
Realizing that I couldn’t solve this dilemma on my own, I decided to ask for help. That’s when I met Lourdes Monteiro and underwent a professional redesign. With this process, I finally took on what I love and took the step of becoming certified in coaching. Since then, I’ve been facilitating personal development processes for individuals and teams/groups.
It’s gratifying to look back and see all the professional ground I’ve covered. It reflects all the growth I’ve had as a person and a professional. All the experiences have contributed to where I am now.
Today I’m married, a mother of three and my focus is working on the professional and motivational dimension of people and organizations, from an integrated perspective (personal and professional life). Career change is one of the areas I most enjoy working on, knowing all that it involves. That’s why I joined the Career Redesign® project so that I could support professionals in achieving their professional fulfillment.
I have a law degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, I am an Associated Certified Coach ICF – International Coaching Federation, I am a mentor, trainer and consultant in the areas of people management in the organizational sphere and I hold the international certification of practitioner in language programming.
